THIS MONTH’S HIGHLIGHT

Wide detector technology in cardiac imaging:
A more comprehensive cardiac evaluation

Dear readers,

In cardiac imaging, 64-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT), although widely adopted, has serious limitations due to step artefacts and high radiation exposure. The introduction of wide-detector technology for cardiac imaging provides technological improvements together with possibly greater diagnostic accuracy of CT coronary angiography. Current advantages and limitations of wide-detector MDCT scanners are described in Dr. Paul’s Focus on and in the selected literature and e-book, all presented in this month’s newsletter. In addition, as usual, two new clinical cases guide you to the best practical approaches.

We remind you that any suggestion for new topics to be covered in future issues is welcomed: please contact us at editorial@public.pixelentropy.eu/mdct-new.
