New efficacy and safety data from the IMPACT study
by V. Matarese
References  |

Introduction

The IMPACT study is a relatively large, multicenter trial that investigated the effects of iodine concentration and osmolality of contrast media on the safety and efficacy of contrast-enhanced MDCT. To this end, the study enrolled 166 patients with moderate-to-severe chronic kidney disease who were scheduled for a contrast-enhanced MDCT examination of the liver or lower-extremity vasculature. Prior to the examination, the patients were randomized to receive equi-iodine doses of iopamidol-370 (iodine, 360 mg/ml;  796 mOsm per kilogram water) or iodixanol-320 (320 mg/ml; 290 mOsm/kg).
